There are more than 3,000 children attending public school in Virginia that are identified as having a brain injury. We know there are more students than that who have sustained a brain injury who may be eligible for Special Education services., and we are concerned about definitions, eligibility and the services students with disabilities receive. In 2018, the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission (JLARC) directed its staff to review Virginia’s K–12 special education system. Here is a copy of that report.
