Physical changes can lead to various challenges, including issues with coordination such as unsteady movements, poor eye-hand coordination, slow or slurred speech (which may be mistaken for alcohol or substance use), tremors, and even paralysis (inability to move parts of one’s body). Fatigue is another challenge, causing individuals to tire quickly, both physically and mentally, reducing their ability to cope and making them more irritable. Visual deficits, like staring, poor eye contact, blurred or double vision, and difficulty following objects with their eyes, can also be experienced. Additionally, individuals may face seizures or have hearing difficulties, such as being deaf or hard of hearing. These challenges can also intensify other issues.
To help manage physical challenges, encourage taking breaks and scheduling demanding tasks when the person is at their best.
