Dan Reeves
Executive Director
Dan has over 15 years of experience in pivotal roles within the nonprofit sector, both internationally and across the United States. He has a proven track record of leading collaborative teams, crafting strategies that uphold human dignity, fostering meaningful dialogue, and driving organizational growth. His expertise in finance, board development, philanthropy, communications, and dedication to serving others, will serve Virginia's brain injury community well. In Dan's free time, he helps with the family business, Carved in Mud Studios located in Richmond, and spends time with his five children.
Liz Wilson
Director of Development
Liz’s genuine interest in others allows her to effortlessly connect and build meaningful relationships. Prior to BIAV, she served as the Executive Director of the Northern Neck Family YMCA, where she cultivated a strong culture of philanthropy and focused on fundraising initiatives. Liz is passionate about strengthening our community and making a lasting impact on people’s lives. In her current role, she forges connections with individuals and organizations, securing philanthropic support to advance our programs and projects. Beyond her professional work, Liz is an avid bird enthusiast with a deep love for all things avian. She also enjoys creating delicious meals and staying active with her favorite exercise routines.
Amy Smith
Director of Education and Engagement
Amy is a Richmond-area native. She earned a doctorate degree in occupational therapy and joined BIAV to collaborate with the Virginia Department of Health in investigating the link between domestic violence and brain injury, with a focus on screening and building vital relationships between community providers. Amy is also a link to help, hope, and healing by reaching out to newly injured Virginians and their families to provide essential support and resources. She facilitates BIAV's professional trainings and webinars. She enjoys music, being outdoors, and reading in her free time.

Kathy Baba
Marketing and Communications Manager
Kathy is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage and her 20-year career spans the vast terrain of communications, design, branding, and storytelling. In her current role, Kathy shines a light on BIAV in the community, giving voice to those we help and those who help us. Her efforts bring awareness and cultivate support, emphasizing the value of relationships, philanthropy, and the importance of advocacy, outreach, education, and support for those impacted by brain injury. Kathy and her family settled in Virginia after 23 years of military life and its moves; she stays active by biking and working out and enjoys boating and spending time with family.
Julia Stankova
Community Resource and Support Manager
Julia relocated to Virginia to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), an Opening Minds Through Art (OMA) facilitator, and a recreational therapist certified through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). With 17 years of experience in recreational therapy, Julia has planned activities and programs and worked with individuals with intellectual disabilities, seniors, at-risk youth, adults, and families. Julia is deeply passionate about enhancing the lives of individuals facing various challenges. She enjoys traveling, festivals, dining out, paddleboarding, and spending quality time with her family.
Victoria Kercado
Grants Administrator
Victoria is originally from New York and moved to Virginia to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating, Victoria started her altruistic career in brain injury by working at The Mill House, which directly serves those who have sustained a brain injury. Victoria's impactful contributions to BIAV are a testament to her dedicated work that goes into serving the brain injury community, and she is excited to continue changing lives with her work here at BIAV.
Madison Knight, MPH
Community Engagement Specialist
After earning her Master’s degree in Public Health from Drexel University, Madison moved to Virginia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion from the University of Lynchburg, where she was also a lacrosse player. Her passion for our mission and commitment to supporting the brain injury community make her an ideal fit for the role of Community Engagement Specialist, where she consistently makes a positive impact on everyone she connects with.
Nabila Noori
Office Administrator/Events Coordinator
Originally from Afghanistan, Nabila brings 12 years of experience working with national and international organizations. Nabila’s impressive career includes a prestigious position with the U.S. Department of State, showcasing her expertise and ability to navigate complex, high-stakes environments. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Nabila brings valuable knowledge and experience that will greatly benefit BIAV and the community we serve. Beyond her professional achievements, Nabila is a proud mother of three children. She treasures spending time with her family, balancing her career and her role as a loving and devoted parent.
