Creating a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education, advocacy, and support.

BIAV Programs and Events

The Brain Injury Association of Virginia hosts numerous programs and events throughout the year. Camp Bruce McCoy, the largest and longest running brain injury survivor camp in the US, is gearing up for its 24th year and is completely booked each season. We have hosted our annual conference for 6 years drawing attendees from across the state to hear nationally and internationally renowned speakers on a variety of topics including behavior management, family issues and challenges, relationships after brain injury, and sports injury and concussion. We also host an annual charity golf classic held in the fall to raise funds to support our programs and services.

Our Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck Regional Resource Coordinator has been instrumental in establishing an annual Regional Disability Awareness Day held each October. This event brings local legislators, government officials, providers, caregivers, and individuals with various disabilities together to increase disability awareness and provide information regarding local services and programs. We have also developed a Speaker's Bureau in both the Northern Neck and Hampton Roads areas to provide survivors and caregivers with training on public speaking and presentations.
