How You Can Help Us
Your membership dues and donations provide much needed assistance to the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and allow us to provide a wide array of services including:
- Distribution of information on brain injury, its consequences, prevention methods, and other related topics to survivors, caregivers, professionals, and other members of the brain injury community.
- Outreach and support through the Virginia Central Registry for Brain Injury
- Education programs and public awareness activities to enhance understanding of brain injury
- Annual Camp Bruce McCoy for survivors
- Referrals to professionals
- Toll-free helpline
- Advocacy for services and programs
Whether from dues or general donations, the funds BIAV receives are used in a variety of ways:
- $475.00 funds one survivor for a week at Camp Bruce McCoy
- $225.00 provides a stipend to a college student who works at Camp Bruce McCoy
- $150.00 funds a 2 hour educational workshop for professionals
- $100.00 provides 90 school nurses with family education handouts
- $50.00 provides a scholarship for a survivor to attend a conference
- $25.00 funds a survivor or family member with one hour of phone consultation with BIAV staff
- $10.00 provides an informational packet to a survivor, family member, or professional
Both dues and donations are tax deductible; dues are billed on an annual basis.
