Camp Bruce McCoy

camper on horse The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV) will conduct the 35th year of Camp Bruce McCoy from May 21st – June 3rd at the Triple-R Ranch in Chesapeake, VA.  Camp McCoy is designed to provide the best recreational opportunity possible for the campers and camp activities are modified to meet the needs of nearly all levels of mobility and cognition, providing a wonderful experience to all of our campers.

Activities include horseback riding, archery, riflery, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, and swimming. Each week’s evening events are exciting and diverse and include a modified softball or kickball game, a dance, karaoke night, and a campfire complete with talent shows and s’mores. The memories made at camp last a lifetime - campers have been kcampers in canoesnown to say that camp is their favorite time of the year and many count the months and weeks until the group comes together again for this once in a lifetime experience!

Camp is not possible without its staff and supporters. If you or anyone you know is interested in working at camp, please contact the BIAV office or download an application (please send completed applications to camp@biav.net). This once in a lifetime experience is beyond words; for those interested in or currently working in the medical or rehabilitation fields, camp provides a wonderful opportunity to grow in your interpersonal and professional skills. For those interested in donating to camp, please download the list of items that can be sponsored by individuals or groups or feel free to send checks made out to BIAV. No donation is too small; please know all donations are greatly appreciated!

We look forward to seeing everyone again this summer at the Triple R Ranch! Please contact the BIAV office with any questions or for applications for prospective campers.
